Simple Seed is a place I’ve been meaning to go to recently.After an indulgent Christmas vacation,I was keen to get back into my health & fitness regime,with this in mind I was delighted when Peter(Founder) and Chia(co-founder) of simple seed decided to invite me to try out the tempting new Menu.Nowadays it seems that larger amounts of people are adhering to a healthier and more active lifestyle.Enter “Simple Seed” a food venue that supports this mindset,the place your body and soul has been waiting for.
When arriving at “Simple Seed” your senses are first greeted with a well lit sustainable space that has incorporated materials such as Energy saving LED lights, Bolon Flooring( made from renewable plant material that is 100% phthalate free), Tasmanian Oak timber and tiles that were selected during design to reflect the Eateries philosophy of consuming wisely, minimising their waste and placing importance on having gratitude and respect for what is provided to us naturally.A simple clean design which I can really appreciate.
With all this in mind, when you arrive you will feel a relaxed and comfortable vibe and know that your nutritional needs will be taken care of.This is not just any other eco friendly place, but one that is very easy on the eye with friendly staff and a thought out menu.
We were hosted by one of the kind staff of “Simple Seed” who provided us with various items from their menu which consisted of
(Smoothie)-Healing Gold, Banana, bee pollen, cinnamon, ginger, activated almond milk, date, turmeric.
Healing gold packs a punch in booth taste and its anti-inflammatory benefits.The banana and sweet Bee pollen stood out with considerable flavor, the overall texture also added to the experience which makes this one, an enticing drink for a return visit.
-Sushi Bowl, quinoa, edamame, spring onion, fried bean curd, avocado, carrot, seaweed, red cabbage, ginger.
For lovers of Sushi this is by far the better choice in terms of health and wellbeing.With quinoa being the star component of the dish I found it blended well with the other ingredients to complement the overall meal.My favorite things I enjoyed about it was the seaweed and fried bean curd plus the edamame texture.
-Buddha Bowl, Cumin roasted sweet potato, avocado, hummus, chickpea, broccoli, black rice, spring onion, sauerkraut.
Where do I start?To start with this has to be one of the prettiest dishes I’ve eaten as of late, almost too pretty to eat.It’s hard to say what I liked the most ,what I can say is the texture of the black rice had a nice mouth feel the hummus was superb and when everything was combined it somehow had a sweet dark taste similar to dark chocolate,I felt full and content after this one.
(Raw dessert)-Salted Caramel Slice, Gluten free, refined sugar free, 100% Vegan & Melbourne made
And last but by no means least, we have the Caramel slice.It must be said that it has all the hallmarks of a very naughty treat i.e taste and texture, one will never miss the absence of the typical refined sugar/dairy desserts when eating this delight.I would like to try the other varieties next time including Raw cherry ripe ,Carrot cake and Matcha slice flavors. You can have your cake and eat it as well!”Indulge guilt free with these delicious raw desserts”.
Green smoothies,Super Smoothies and Smoothie bowls are some of my favourite summertime treats!Power Porridge is also great for those cold Melbourne Mornings and Buddha Bowls are perfect for that post Gym re-fuel!
With the numerous Health options on hand you can take the sweet path or the savoury, either way you may find it difficult to choose, as both are scrumptious.
Simple Seeds Plant Based menu changes regularly in-line with seasonal produce.Everything is Wholesome & Handcrafted and made from scratch from their fresh salads, soups, smoothies and raw desserts, which if you didn’t know by now :p are delicious and good for you!
The most important thing we ask ourselves here at Melbourneyum when visiting these amazing food venues is, did the food make a lasting impression on us and would we come back again, to put it plainly “Simple Seeds” food was full fun and flavor which left us feeling happy healthy and wanting to return for more:)
